The exoskeleton, MARCH I is the very fist model of the MARCH series, established by the first team in 2016.

Custom made FRAME

While using an exoskeleton it is important to guarantee comfort for the pilot. By making a 3D-scan of the pilot's legs at which the frame can be precisely modelled, and achieve an optimal body-frame interaction with a great comfort. This makes the MARCH unique; a frame specially designed for the Pilot.



Freedom of movement

The human skeleton is complex and hard to mechanically simulate. The MARCH I has 5 degrees of freedom per leg, of which 2 degrees are located in the hip. This enables MARCH I to also step sideward and thus accurately place the user’s feet on the ground. The extra joint in the hip also makes weight shift from leg to leg possible which has a positive effect on the stability.



Carbon-Fiber Backpack

A light weight, ergonomic carbon-fibre backpack placed on the exoskeleton protects advanced electronics and the computing systems. 

Series Elastic Actuation

Powerful electro-motors guarantee shock absorption and accurate torque measurements. To provide the needed power to actuate the joints of the exoskeleton, custom made electro-motors are used. This motor drives a spindle that is connected to a special made titanium spiral spring. This spring makes it possible to accurately measure the torque in the joint, and it will absorb and filter shocks in the system.
