As Electrical Engineer, you will concern yourself with all electrical parts of the exoskeleton. At one moment, you might be busy designing the schematics of a Printed Circuit Board. At other times you might be working on implementing a new piece of electronics or soldering a test setup. You are part of the complete design of the exoskeleton, because everywhere electronics are needed. As an extra challenge, you have to make the electrical system as safe as possible for the pilot. With a broad knowledge of electrical engineering and a dose of determination you will be ready for the job!
First of all, your responsibilities include the 'Power' aspect of the exoskeleton. You are responsible for the battery and how the energy of the battery is distributed within the exoskeleton. How will you make sure the exoskeleton can keep walking for as long as possible? The electronic safety functions of the exoskeleton are also your responsibility. Designing and lay-outing the the so-called Power Distribution Board requires a lot of consultation with the other engineers, therefore it is important for you to be a team player.
Next, you will make sure the hardware is present to actually allow data and power to flow through the exoskeleton. By puzzling together with the Frame and Housing engineers, you make sure all PCB's, sensors and cables are in the right place and of the required sizes. Lastly, you will be working on test setups to test your creations before implementing them in the exoskeleton!
Desired skills and experience
Preferably: End bachelor or master in Electrical Engineering or comparable (e.g. Embedded Systems)
Good communication skills
Creative, structured and analytical working methods
Able to clearly and understandably communicate technical knowledge
Experience with working in groups, projects and/or committees
Knowledge of electrical circuits
Experience with PCB design in e.g. Altium is a bonus
