Introduction

Dear reader,

After a month filled with production, several tours and the introduction of the new team, it is time for a new newsletter. In the past few weeks several parts have been coming in, which means that the assembly-phase has now officially started. For our team this is, of course, the moment we have all been waiting for. All of our hard work will finally get paid off and all the different subprojects will finally come together. At the end of this month we will know if the MARCH III can walk! In other words, a very exciting month in the offing. But first, let's look back on all the activities of past month. Because it has not been quiet in the office of Project MARCH...

Have fun reading!

Last Month

MARCH I to the Townhall Delft

Last month we took the first prototype of Project MARCH, the MARCH I, out of her flightcase. This prototype will be getting a new home soon. On behalf of the Delft City of Technology the exoskeleton will be displayed at the town hall of Delft for undetermined time. In the week of May 7th the exoskeleton will be transported form the D:DREAMhall to her new location at the railway Station in Delft. Are you curious about this prototype and her new residence? Then visit the official reveal in the week of May 14th. More information about this event will be announced on our Facebook soon!

MARCH IV

As you might know is the following team of Project MARCH, MARCH IV, finally complete. Before they will start their full-time year in the D:DREAMhall and their design of the exoskeleton, they will first have to get known in the D:DREAMhall. In the first week of May their introduction period was kicked off. Finally all new team members got the chance to meet each other for the first time. Even for our team, MARCH III, was this of course a very exciting moment! Fortunately the spark hit on and the basis for good friendships and pleasant cowork have been made!

Interview Omroep Wetering

On behalf of the reveal of the new design of the MARCH III, Project MARCH was invited to an interview at Omroep Wetering. Here we could tell all their close followers about the new developments and innovations of the new MARCH prototype. Team Manager, Lennart Schut, and PR Manager, Magali Ponds, enlightened all the new features in a short interview. Curious? Check out the interview at our YouTube channel of Facebook page.

Tours

This month we had some cool tours. Below we will highlight some of them!

Crowdfunding

This month the D:DREAMhall tours for the donators of our crowdfunding #MakeUsMARCH took place. On Thursday night the 12th and Wednesday night 18th of April we hosted several donators and showed them all the secrets of our project.

BEST
On thurday the 3th of May 27 international students of the international student association BEST Delft came by at the D:DREAMhall to get a tour of Project MARCH. These international students came to the TU Delft to learn about Swarm Robotics during a ten-day course. Project MARCH fits perfect to explain the common techniques in robotics and exoskeletons. It was a very fun session with very interesting questions from the students.

Europese Parliament
Besides we had the opportunity to give a pitch to a group of European P
arliamentarians! On Thursday the 12th of april they came by the D:DREAMhall to learn more about our project. Below a picture is shown of Lennart doing the pitch.

Technical update

After a month full of production and the delivery of several parts it is now time to start the Assembly Phase. The first parts have been assembled together and the whole exoskeleton starts to take a physical shape. To start with all seperate parts are assembled, like the joints and the backpack, so that the total MARCH III can be built up really quick. Besides that, the 'straps' and 'paddings' are being made to provide our pilot Sjaan with good support. The boys of the electrical department strive for the finishing up of the last components and work their way through an enormous load of cables to provide a clean and compact electronical architecture. Furthermore, the Software boys are one step closer to the development of a natural walking patter. Error after error is being found and solved. Shortly, a lot of progress is being made. Although it might sometimes be a race against the clock, the result is more than worth it!

Upcoming month

Also in the next month there is enough to do for our team. There will start a new PR campaign, the MARCH I will be moved to the station of Delft and the airgait of the MARCH III is plannend. Besides that, our team will also be participating in several events!

PR Campaign IV

This week we will finally end the campaign #MeetMARCH. After having introduced all the subprojects of Project MARCH it is now time for ourselves, department Operational. Afterwards it will definitely not be quiet at our Social Media channels, since a new social media campaign will be introduced immediately afterwards. From this week on we will give a sneak preview in the assembly of our own exoskeleton, the MARCH III, in our new campaign the #MakingOfMARCH. Every weeks one or even two now posts will be published! Are you curious about the progress of the assembly? Then follow our campaign closely!
