Britt van den Beemt
As a mechanical engineer, Britt is responsible for designing and producing the mechanical systems of the exoskeleton. This includes the joints, frame, and connections between them. She particularly enjoys the full process of conceptualizing, designing, and integrating, especially when collaborating with other departments to create the best possible exoskeleton. This year, her main focus will be on improving the coordination of the ankle movements.
Project MARCH caught Britt’s attention because of its mission to improve the lives of people with paraplegia through open-source technology. For her, it represents the opportunity to apply her technical knowledge to a project with a meaningful and social goal. With her background in Marine Technology, she brings a fresh perspective and approaches engineering challenges from a different angle.
She looks forward to broadening her horizon beyond the maritime sector and exploring new areas of innovation. What excites her most is working in an interdisciplinary mechanical team, solving problems alongside other passionate students. Through this, she aims to develop not only her technical expertise but also her social skills.
