Koen Walet

As Chief Engineer, Koen holds the final responsibility for all technical aspects of the exoskeleton. He not only guards the long-term vision of the project, but also has extensive knowledge of all subsystems to facilitate crucial top-level decision-making. He applies a participative and communicative leadership style, actively connecting with team members, listening to their perspectives, and using these insights to keep the team aligned.

Koen decided to join Project MARCH because he was inspired by the opportunity to transform innovative ideas into tangible results, while working together in a multidisciplinary team on a large-scale project. With his background in Clinical Technology and experience in rehabilitation medicine, he brings both technical expertise and comprehensive medical knowledge in development, testing and use of high-tech medical devices.

His personal goals this year are to learn how to use a system engineering approach in a high-tech project, by understanding all components of the exoskeleton and learning how to manage and connect the technical details. At the same time, he aims to develop his communication and leadership skills to ensure effective collaboration within a large, multidisciplinary team. During this year, Koen hopes not only to develop his skills, but also facilitate the personal growth of the engineering team. After all, Project MARCH is at its core about movement: both of the exoskeleton and of the team.
