Jacob Schoones
As an Electronics Engineer, Jacob is responsible for both the hardware and the low-level firmware of the exoskeleton. His main focus this year is improving the custom motor controllers, known as MDrives, which enable movement and keep track of all the sensor data.
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Jacob wanted to take on a new challenge and put the knowledge gained during his studies into practice. He joined Project MARCH to gain more hands-on experience with advanced electronics and to work on a complex system together with a multidisciplinary team.
This year, Jacob aims to broaden his practical knowledge of electronics by experiencing the complete development cycle of a custom-designed printed circuit board. This includes designing the electronics, assembling and testing the boards, and developing the firmware required to control them. By working alongside engineers from different disciplines, he also hopes to broaden his technical knowledge and gain practical experience beyond what is typically possible during university projects.
