Luuk van der Wiel

As Control Engineer, Luuk develops motor controllers for the various joints in the exoskeleton, ensuring that commands from the high-level software are converted to movements of the motors. As a member of the Control department, Luuk creates the bridge from software to hardware through the development of controllers, the testing of systems, and collaboration with the other departments.

With a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Luuk has a large range of skills spread across multiple fields. Combining mechanics, electronics, and code, he brings valuable practical experience from previous projects such as the development of a teleoperation system for a robotic hand. His motivation to join the team stems from an interest in robotics and a drive to build technology that interacts with humans.

This year, he aims to apply his theoretical knowledge to a more practical project while improving the functionality of the exoskeleton. Furthermore, Luuk wants to learn more about control algorithms and complex systems. He hopes to see the team perform well and is eager to witness the exoskeleton making a tangible difference in a pilot's life.
