Mats Macke
As Lead Software Engineer, Mats is responsible for leading development of Project MARCH’s high-level software, which is effectively the “brain” of the exoskeleton. In addition to the technical responsibility for the exoskeleton’s software, his role includes ensuring the software meets the needs of the team and works well with the subsystems developed by other departments.
Mats’ interest in Project MARCH comes from the challenge of tackling complex technical problems as part of a project that is mainly focused on helping improve people’s lives. He hopes to use his background in Aerospace Engineering and Robotics to build software that is well-suited to the hardware, and his programming experience to ensure the software is well-designed and constitutes a stable platform for continued development of the exoskeleton.
Mats is looking forward to further developing his software development skills throughout the year, as well as improving his management skills. Building on the previous teams’ research and development efforts, he is excited to learn more about exoskeleton motion and developing high-level control software. He is most looking forward to seeing a pilot move more independently in the MARCH XII exoskeleton at the end of the year.
