Nelson van der Auwera
As Electrical Engineer, Nelson is one of the key contributors to the electrical systems of the MARCH exoskeleton. He is responsible for designing the custom motor controllers (MDrive) and wiring. He will mainly focus on the hardware side, but will also provide support in the programming of the PCBs.
After completing his Industrial Design Engineering bachelor’s degree, Nelson wanted to broaden his technical knowledge. Project MARCH was the perfect opportunity because he could work on a challenging project with a meaningful purpose. Nelson studied more mathematics and electronics in addition to his studies at university so that he could transition into his role at Project MARCH. His passion for exploring what current technologies can achieve and enthusiasm for teamwork make him a valuable member of MARCH XII.
His goal is straightforward: using his creative mindset to innovate and his technical skills to bring those ideas to life. More personally, Nelson hopes to gain expertise in embedded electronics and excel at multidisciplinary collaboration while helping people with paraplegia to regain mobility.
