Sjoerd van Rietbergen

Sjoerd van Rietbergen is very open-minded, creative, and has a passion for design. He chose to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design because he wants to use his design skills to help people. This was also the reason he decided to join Project MARCH. It's the only Dream Team that has a significant impact on a human being, and you can immediately see the positive influence you can have.

Sjoerd wanted to further develop his design skills at Project MARCH, which is why he became one of our Design Engineers. As a Design Engineer, he is responsible for designing the visible aspects of the exoskeleton. He designs the covers, the user interface, and the overall look and feel, which are crucial in shaping people's perceptions of our exoskeleton.

He also works on the Input Device (IPD) to assist the pilot in controlling the exoskeleton during the Cybathlon, aiming to make it a fast and intuitive process. Additionally, he plays a role in (re)designing other tools and aids to help complete obstacles more efficiently and quickly.

Sjoerd's personal goal for the year is to gain experience in the medical innovation sector, improve his skills in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, enhance his 3D printing and 3D scanning skills, and learn more about the aesthetics and overall design aspects.
